I got to speak to my Rotary Club ((Rotary Club of Winter Haven) about why Homeowners insurance is so expensive in Florida. I told them about the impact hurricanes have on insurance ocmpanies that write homeowners insurance in places like Lakeland and Winter Haven. I focused on how one company was forced out of business by losses and it's inability to acquire enough reinsurance (insurance for insurance companies). That company was UPC out of Tampa (not to be confused with UPCIC which is a completely different company).
