In a sign of the continued hard market in Florida Capacity Insurance Company will be take over by the state by May 21st. Capacity Sunrise does not have a large footprint in Winter Haven or Lakeland. As of last year they only had roughly 2,700 commercial policies in the state. But this does not bode well for the turn around we're all hoping for. This combined with the liquidation and state take over of UPC when it had a plan to be unwound slowly in place show just how difficult it is for companies to stay afloat in Florida.
The takeaway in this specific instance is we're losing another Florida Insurer. While they didn't have much business in Winter Haven, Lakeland or the Polk County area in general that's one less company to provide competition to the rest.
